At Veritas we nominate a charity to support each year and arrange activities and fund raising events to maximise the support and assistance we can give.
We love to think that we can support both the local community and charities close to our hearts. We literally jump in with both feet and give it our all!
2017 Alzheimer’s Society
This year we have nominated the Alzheimer’s Society to benefit from our fund raising activities. Sue will be taking part in the Alzheimer’s Society One Giant Leap on 6th August 2017, having raised above the required £430 target funds to make a tandem skydive from 10,000 feet!
Events so far have included a Networking Garden Party, Belgian Beer tasting for the chaps (thanks to The Belgian Life) and a Wine tasting evening for the ladies (thanks to Silver Fox wines).
Sue’s rationale for this year’s choice of charity – My work brings me into contact with families who have a loved one suffering with some stage of dementia, trying to manage it in the home or trying to cope with their beloved in care. I see first hand how this dreadful disease affects everyone. We have also lost a family member to vascular dementia.
As we are all living longer my fear is the majority of us will face this dreadful disease at some point.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we hope to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

2016 The British Heart Foundation
Sue took part in an arduous jungle trek through the Sapa Valley in Northern Vietnam just a 1km from the Chinese border in support of her chosen charity for 2016 The British Heart Foundation raising over £3000 with numerous events throughout the year.
Sapa is a rugged northern Vietnamese area, with terraces, rolling hills, deep valleys and vibrant paddy fields.
The challenge took us along scenic trails and off the beaten path, through remote villages, camping in the remote rainforest, trekking through jungle on seasonal trails which are only used for cardamom harvesting deep in the forest. The reward was our final destination of the Topas Ecolodge with breath-taking views of the towering mountains that we had trekked through.
